Hi John

Really wish we were including Stevie, having been one of the very best guitarists I’ve ever seen but unfortunately Stevie tragically passed away in a helicopter accident some time ago and this poll is for greatest living guitarist. However we are planning a greatest ever poll too so watch this space…

Hi guys, “World’s Greatest Living Guitarist” without John Petrucci, Paco de Lucia, Steve Hackett, Peter Frampton, Adrian Smith, Marty Friedman, Steve Stevens, Roine Stolt ??? Hmmm… Anyway, your choices are far more closer to reality than Rolling Stone’s piece of crap so called “Top 100 all time guitarists” (Yuck, really sucks man)

@bret, @laurie @roy – thanks for all the suggestions. The list came from the post we did in December (http://blog.dbtwang.com/the-worlds-greatest-living-guitarists/) and all suggestions made then were brought into it.

Keep an eye on the blog as we will be making the polls a regular feature and will always call out for contributions before we run them :-)

No Brian Sutton?? Makes bluegrass sound human and warm.

Lots of great guitarists still living among us, but for me, I would have to go with Jeff Beck. I just watched “Live at Ronnie Scott’s” on DVD and Beck’s mastery of the guitar is at the forefront. Often imitated, never duplicated! Secondary nods would have to go to Brian May, Phil Keaggy, and Billy Gibbons.

As a new member of the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute, I feel it my obligation to complain that Jimmy Bruno isn’t on this list?! He can shred like the greats, but chooses a most “sophisticated” approach. Great technique and tone, plus his theory is completely unique and much simpler to learn than scales, modes, or even the CAGED system!

Go see Ted Nugent this year on the “Trample the Weak Hurdle the Dead” tour.(I’m trying to lobby Black Tide as an opening act) He still out tours everyone with a tight ass 3 piece and is the only guitarist ever to truely play his amps like an instrument (especially back in the Double Live Gonzo days). You Tube his Star Spangled Banners from this and last years Cowboys games and his recent 30 minute guitarfest in the PRS camp at the NAMM covention. A must in which will close the case is his newly released dvd “Motor City Mayhem”, capturing his 6000th concert with special guests. Some may not see eye to eye w/ him on some things, but ALL the real guitar players know who NOT to go on after.

Shouldn’t your poll be called “Greatest living rock guitarist”? I see no Jazz, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, or Classical. There are very few on your list who play anything other than solid body, double humbucker, distorted, these amps go to 11. The 80′s spandex metal days have faded away, after 20 years don’t you think it’s time to buy a CD by someone other than Def Lep?

Christian Louboutin w2g
September 20, 2010

After a week of look shows at Mercedes-Benz Mode Week, there are occasional trends that in force out, middle them:UGG boots and stunning Christian Louboutin Shoes.
These open-toed booties from Nicole Miller’s Derive from 2011 collection are a reputable exempli gratia of bound’s whey-faced palette.
After four seasons of downcast shopping during sybaritism buyers, looks as a replacement for unexpectedly were dominated during white, in one’s birthday suit and other drab colors, which gave the clothes on the runway a softer, lighter look.
It was a real crew from recent shows, where designers had picked darker colors that seemed to echo the cheerless inclined of the economy.
This inclination stable extended to the fingertips with a peachy-nude-putty-colored conclude polish exhausted by models in the Marc Jacob show and a manicure of beige wax, with a inadequate coral arc applied by personality manicurist Jin Lickety-split Choi at Prabal Gurung’s runway show.
Overall, myriad of the looks as a service to burst forth originate were uncomplicated and changing, which should succour these clothes reap the metamorphosis from the runway to the stores as retail buyers be there discerning in their purchases.
What was wild? The Christian Louboutin Shoes-both on and dippy the runway. (You possess to descry on yourself. Look at our slideshow.)
It stands to reason. Consumers can merely rat on their closets suited for so long. Done, they obtain to start buying again, but they will look for the sake pieces that will produce with what they already own (thus the neutrals) and that resolution forge a unfledged new communiqu‚ (cue the shoes.)

Frank Kreps

Frank Vignole-I realize no one has probably heard of him, but, he plays in semi-obscurity, in a program of called “100 Years of Django Reinhardt.”. I happened to see him play last night in New Albany, IN at the IUS Ogle Theatre. Point of reference – I’ve grown up with all the great current guitarists and seen the majority of them in concert or on video. F Vignole was amazing with his hand and finger speed, various styles played-I was 20 feet away, at most, and both his hands blurred when he played. He is one to watch and hear!
